You can advertise the game to new players without lying to them. That is to say, yes, it's technically true to say that you can get a membership without 'spending a single penny,' but acting like it's actually a reasonable proposition is at best misleading. And getting a well-rounded high-level character is much more difficult on free worlds. Realistically, no, unless you have a high-level character or get really good at flipping items on the GE (something that is risky even when you're starting out with a big stack of GP), you're not going to be able to get to the point where you can sustain a membership with bonds unless you first buy a membership. Membership can be BOUGHT FOR FREE through in game bonds. ![]() "They're just optional!" is not an excuse for their existence, and as of yet I haven't really seen sufficient evidence that they're there because Jagex could no longer sustain itself on membership, rather than the more likely conclusion, which is that they're trying to squeeze as much money out of the game as they can. Even when it isn't, the microtransactions themselves are designed so as to catch your attention and encourage you to spend on them. Generally, when microtransactions appear in a game, the game is rebalanced so as to encourage you to buy them. Nobody will force you to go through with them. Ursprünglich geschrieben von Reaper415:- Repeat after me. How am I a troll? You're trolling us by claiming I'm a troll. "Thank you for your attention, have a nice day". "Excuse me, may I have everyone's attention please?" I don't even know when the last time is I saw a new player. To a new player, the game is just going to seem like a cluttered mess full of confusing crap you can't do, and since the only people still playing are people who have been playing for decades and have invested too much time to quit, or people who spent hundreds of dollars on keys to max out their character, you'll never 'catch up' to higher levels. They also raised the cost for membership from $5 to $10 then to $15, which was so unfair to us original players who still kept playing despite the abuse from Jagex we were enduring. This game was good 15 years ago then 'pay to win' and child gambling started entering the game and ruined it and people left. There are far better games to spend your money on. Ursprünglich geschrieben von Playtime is Ogre:DON'T. If you don't enjoy that feeling of setting a goal and grinding to that goal this might not be the game for you. You will be grinding for days and day regardless though as grind is a core aspect of RS's identity, the grind is kind of the appeal? RS3 is a lot more streamlined in this and I mean LOT more streamlined while OSRS retains the original year long grinds. ![]() So it's discounted heavier than normal so paying for the full year is the equivalent of like 6-7 (various by region) bucks a month. Right now the premier package is on discount as 2021 is going to be a big year for RS anniversary wise. Or you can get one of the packages like premier package available at the end of the year every year for a limited time, which gives a larger discount on yearly membership. ![]() 1 bond is 14 days, 2 bonds is 29 days, and 3 bonds is 45 days. In this way you can sustain your membership without spending a cent of real money using just the in-game currency. At which point after spending time as a member you can make enough money to regularly buy an item called a bond with the in-game money.Ī bond can be redeemed for free membership. What a lot of people tend to do is start as F2P to see if they like it and exhaust what they can do as a F2P then they do a paid upgrade to membership. AND one membership gets you membership for both OSRS and RS3 so you essentailly get two games worth of content. There is a LOT of content as a F2P person but it's a small fraction of what you get from upgrading to a membership and your subscription pays not just for the literal thousands of hours of existing content already there, but for the continuous weekly and monthly updates to the game as well. It's a subscription based MMO you pay it in bits or a lump sum and you get access to a lot more content.
